TweetDeck on Fedora, not yet?
Tuesday, May 5th, 2009It is deliberately stated on TweetDeck’s website that it works on Linux via Adobe Air.
Although I already tried installing Adobe Air for Multiply AutoUploader on a debian based OS in which I didn’t succeed, I did not hesitate to do it again, but this time, on Fedora 10.
I browsed TweeterDeck’s website for the easy download stage. And as expected, nothing happened when I clicked the download button, hehehe.
I didn’t lose hope.
The easiest way may have failed me but there must be a work around to it.
I first downloaded Adobe Air from http://get.adobe.com/air/
It will take a while to show the download link cause it’s checking the system requirements.
Then, I chmod +x the AdobeAIRInstaller.bin (by default it’s not an executable file, makes me wonder).
After that, download TweetDeck*manual.air from http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/
Step four (yes, we’re on the fourth already, hehe), run in command line:
root@localhost ~]# /usr/bin/Adobe\ AIR\ Application\ Installer
This will ask for the installer package, in this case what we want to install is TweetDeck.
Lo and behold!
TweetDeck at your service!!
**If you’re having difficulty in downloading TweetDeck’s installer package (that’s what happened to me), don’t hesitate to ask me for a copy, I’d gladly share it you.
